“Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches! Pour out your heart like water before the presence of the Lord! Lift your hands to Him for the lives of your children, who faint for hunger at the head of every street.” ( Lam 2: 19)
Marian Renewal Centre is a “Bethel” for youth and children as it originated with a vision to evangelize the entire world through young generation. It aims at imparting Gospel values in the young minds through retreats, seminars, workshops and spiritual counseling. It’s mission is to help and motivate the new generation to lead an exemplary Christo centric life in this fast growing modern world.
Marian Renewal Centre is the youth wing of Sehion Ministries, serving under the patronage of His Excellency Mar Jacob Manathodath, the Bishop of Palakkad Diocese, nourishing with the guidance of Rev.Fr.Xavier Khan Vattayil and growing under the blissful leadership of Rev.Fr.Reni Pullukalayil of Palakkad diocese from it’s very inception.
It had a very humble beginning at the diocesan Pastoral centre , Palakkad in the year 2009. Trusting in the Divine providence of God the centre started working. God strengthened Rev.Fr.Reni Pullukalayil to carry on this mission, facing the challenges of place ,personnel and source of income. Later, it was shifted to Yuvakshethra College, Mundur and from there to Priest Home at Malampuzha ,Palakkad. Residing over there, the team travelled to different places to conduct retreats and seminars as there was no place to conduct residential retreats. As a result of continuous prayer and penance of it’s pioneer members, at last the ministry could settle at Dhoni a small village at the outskirts of Palakkad town. The formal establishment of Marian Renewal Centre took place on May 28, 2012 at the newly constructed building at Dhoni. The grateful memory of late Fr. Sebastian Thayyil was instrumental in the development of this centre, for it was his ancestral property at Dhoni the diocese could build this centre.
At present, there are 3 priests, 36 religious sisters and 27 lay ministers in this centre, serving zealously for the glory of God. Now, the centre can accommodate 250 people at a time. Even though it is a centre for children, there are retreats for laity, religious sisters, deacons ,seminarians and formies. Many people, especially religious come here for a temporary period for prayer and get spiritual renewal. There are training programmes and Theology courses, in order to support the faster expansion of evangelization. It is run by monitory support given by many helping hands and providence of God alone.
